YPAG Advocacy Campaign

                                        Project CREATE YPAG

                            Young people making a difference

As part of Project CREATE our YPAGs have the opportunity to deliver a social action advocacy campaign to raise awareness around adolescent mental health with a focus on loneliness. Feedback from our participants has led us to recognise the need to support the YPAGs to not only create and deliver a social action project that raises awareness but that also enables them to explore their own mental health, develop and recognise alternative means to support their mental health and share this journey with others.

These workshops (Listening lab) would be even better if the sessions and activities were more linked to mental health - e.g., the effects different music has on mental health or how we could improve our mental health with certain music”. YPAG participant, June Living Lab. 2023.

If we talked more about our own opinions on mental health and music.” YPAG participant, June Living Lab. 2023.

We currently hold monthly online meetings to discuss and articulate Project CREATEs current progress within research and the ideas that evolve out of the work packages, and the focus from which will now be turned to the creation and delivery of an advocacy campaign.

Fresh off the back of the first living Lab workshop (see our ‘Living Lab’ workshop page) the YPAG have had their first introduction to social action and the various remote formats they might like to utilise to deliver their project in. As mentioned earlier, most of the engagement with the YPAG takes place online. One of the benefits of this is that we’ve been able to engage a geographically diverse group of participants, but due to this it is likely that the campaign will be delivered online. In saying that, there is no shortage of examples of excellent and engaging online social action advocacy projects. See examples below. These have been shared with the YPAG to act as stimuli for their own creative advocacy project.
